Well, moving on from probably the most expensive computer desk in the world , how about really eating into your lottery winnings and purchasing a PC to go with it? You’ll obviously want the best, and so you’ll be rushing out to get a Zeus Jupiter - around £375,000 at current exchange rates.
You’ll be thinking ‘how?what?why?’, but then not all PCs come with a custom chassis made entirely from platinum and encrusted with jewels that map the constellations.
The really worrying thing is that after you take away the £374,000 for the precious metals, jewels and huge profit margin, you’re left with pretty much any old PC. Read the rest of this entry »

Introducing the Yelpie (yes, Yelpie) portable outdoor safe. It’s an interesting idea, and one I’m surprised I haven’t seen on the market before. So it’s a keypad protected, weather-proof container that will only open using the preset code and will sound a 90dB alarm if it’s moved or tampered with for more than a few seconds. It’s designed to be able to store your usual ‘day out’ valuables, such as wallets, mobile phones, mp3 players etc. I estimate it’s capacity at about 2litres, so plenty of room for the important things. Male or female, old or young.. chances are you’ll remember playing with Lego as a kid - whether your own collection or someone else’s. Well, LEGO is celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary today, and still going strong with lots of Christmas and birthday lists featuring the knobbly toy.
LEGO as we know it today was founded in Denmark in 1958 by Ole Kirk Christansen, and bricks produced all those years ago will still fit together with modern bricks of today.
LEGO bricks are produced in special plants in Denmark, the Czech Republic and Mexico. The ABS compound is not delivered in a liquid form, but rather as granules, which are heated to 232° C until they melt. Injection moulding machines weighing up to 150 tons then press the hot and “gooey” plastic mass into LEGO brick shapes. The shapes dry and harden and, voilà – you have the famous LEGO brick!

Yet another ‘if only’ situation.. namely, if only I had spare couple of grand, a basement, and a very understanding wife. Playing games and surfing the web can never be the same again now that I know about the V1 computer desk and chair.. just look at that thing! I want one, and it hurts…
Ok, so they’ve just brought out a new ‘compact’ version called the V1 Corner. Each one is hand-made to order in the US (where else?), and is highly customisable. Read the rest of this entry »

It’s times like these I wish I had a hell of a lot more disposable income. Virgin Galactic unveiled it’s designs for what will be the first ever commercial passenger spacecraft, due to make it’s maiden voyage as early as 2009. SpaceShipTwo, as it is known, will be launched from carrier or ‘mother’ ship WhiteKnightTwo. The ships are currently being built and tested at Scaled Composites in Mojave, CA.
Virgin are currently taking registrations and deposits of around $20k, with an expected final cost upwards of $200k. Over 200 registrations have been confirmed (I assume also having paid), and over 85,000 have registered an interest. Read the rest of this entry »
